Is the PDF to Text Converter free?
Yes. It is free to use, with no account or sign-up required.
Are my PDFs uploaded to your servers?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, so your PDF never leaves your device. We don’t receive, store or see your files or the text extracted from them.
Can it read scanned PDFs or photos of documents?
No. A scanned PDF is a picture of a page, with no text inside it, so there is nothing to extract. To read it you need OCR (optical character recognition), which this tool doesn’t include. If the converter finds no text, it tells you so.
Will it keep formatting, tables and images?
It extracts plain text only. Images and styling such as fonts and colours are left out. Tables come out as lines of text, and pages with several columns may read in a different order. The “Join lines into paragraphs” option tidies text that was broken into short lines.
Can I convert a password-protected PDF?
Yes, if you know the password. The tool asks for it, and it is used only inside your browser to open the file. It isn’t sent anywhere.
Is there a file size or page limit?
Each file can be up to 50 MB. There is no page limit, but long documents take longer because pages are read one at a time. You can convert several PDFs in one go.
